Special Initiative on Media Justice
June 2007
Media both shapes and responds to issues. Those who care about social justice should care about media. Whether it's making sure our stories are told accurately, or building skills and gaining access to tell them ourselves, groups that are marginalized, peoples that have no voice can utilize media tools to create progressive social change.
Hawaii People‘s Fund held a Media Justice Conference in March 2007, and offered special Media Justice grant awards in May. Funds for Media Justice grantmaking in 2008 will be available.
Requests for Proposals for Community Media Collaborations or Media Justice Toolkits must be received no later than 2/1/08. Please contact our office for applications or further information.
